Committed to the power of journalism
Louisa “Lou” Marshall has been at the forefront of editorial strategy, content development, comprehensive team management, forward-thinking SEO tactics, AI-driven editorial technology, and more for the better part of a decade. Her track record of journalistic integrity and excellence speaks for itself, as does the traffic and engagement enhancements she’s single-handedly responsible for. Currently serving as the managing editor of McClatchy’s Women’s Group publications, Lou brings her collective experience to the newsroom each and every day, having grown traffic by 1,300 percent in just a year.
A fierce advocate of females in the journalism industry, Lou is a proud supporter of the Coalition for Women in Journalism and the International Women’s Media Foundation, and is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists among other professional boards. She is not only working to further the journalism industry for her team and fellow journalists, but is investing in the future of editorial accountability as a professor at Chapman University, guiding student journalists through the ever-changing media landscape.
“I have been underestimated as a [female] journalist more times than I can count, to the fault of the person who underestimated me in the first place. Just go for it.”
