my a.m. & p.m. routines

We’ve all heard the saying that the tone of your day is set within the first half an hour or so that you’re awake, but actually doing the morning routine work is so much easier said than done. The same goes for the evening — how many times have we all stayed up and scrolled on our phones way past a reasonable sleeping time? Believe me when I say that I am still trying to figure out the best a.m. and p.m. routines for myself, my work schedule, my fitness goals, etc., but if you’re looking for a template to follow, this is what is working for me at the moment.

A.M.

6:30 a.m. — Wake up and take morning supplements. I’m big on collagen in the morning as well as magnesium to help balance stress levels naturally. The Hatch morning alarm clock that mimics the sun rising has been an absolute game changer getting up this early (I highly recommend for those who also have an early start to the day).

6:45 a.m.: Go through the motions: I wash my face, brush my teeth and do my quick daytime skincare (click here for that).

6:50 a.m. — Drink a glass of ice water with lemon. I know it sounds a bit pretentious and maybe unnecessary, but it does in fact kick off your digestion. During this time, I also use my planner to write out my intentions and focus points for the day. I find this tends to put me in a good headspace.

7:00 a.m. — Start work! This is when I settle in for the day and get started.

Midday — I hit the gym for a bit during my lunch break! If you want to get a breakdown of my workout routine, click here.

P.M.

10 p.m. — Shower. It might be controversial, but due to the amount I exercise, I do shower every evening. Before you start, I don’t wash my hair every time (that’s usually a three times per week thing), but I find I feel a lot better if I rinse off.

10:15 p.m. — Go through the evening motions: I wash my face and do my evening skincare (which you can read out here), brush my teeth, apply moisturizer, etc., all while my kettle is boiling. I like to make an herbal tea to help bring the day to a close.

10:20 p.m. — Get into bed, drink tea, and take pills. Right now, I’m sticking to a supplement regimen from Ritual which I love, including a multivitamin, probiotic, and hyaluronic acid in pill form for my skin.

10:30 p.m. — Sleep! My favorite time of day. But in all seriousness, I do try to hit this sleep goal so I get at least seven hours of sleep every night.

And that’s it! Believe me when I say I don’t always stick to this exactly, but it is the goal that I go into each day with.
